Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our instructors recommend (and some require) weekly lessons. This frequency makes it more likely to improve quickly on your instrument. It also ensured that your instructor can properly monitor your progress and provide feedback.

  • First, speak with your new instructor. They'll have feedback regarding instrument types and sizes that will be right for you. Then, visit our partner business the Alpine Music Exchange! Located conveniently next door, our music shop offers instrument rentals and all supplies you may need.

  • There's really no "one size fits all" answer to this question. But practice is important! Learning an instrument works best when time is dedicated at home to applying the topics and ideas covered in your lessons.

If you're new to this, aim overall to establish a routine. Practice doesn't have to be long at first, but should be consistent. Three times a week for 30 minutes each is a great starting point. Adjust depending on your schedule and level of commitment.

  • 30 minute lessons are a great starting point for students who are brand new to their instrument and are also ideal for elementary age students. 60 minute lessons are great for advancing middle/high school players and adults.
