Paloma Ress.
Paloma Ress is an American bassist and vocalist, born in Mount Vernon, Washington. Her family history informs her music from the American Southwest of New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, and California. Paloma views music as an act of community building. Music unifies people together. Music heals each other.
Paloma attends Metropolitan State University of Denver for Jazz Performance on the upright bass and voice. She began her musical journey as a girl singing in nursing homes across Colorado with her father. She fell in love with performing and continued to learn music in her school orchestra programs via violin, cello, and bass.
While attending high school, Paloma had the opportunity to participate in a trade school part-time for Audio Production, leading to the opportunity to work professionally as a sound engineer at the age of 17 at Dazzle, a renowned jazz club in downtown Denver.
Being exposed to the magic of jazz, she studied at Colorado Conservatory of the Jazz Arts (CCJA) and now attends MSU Denver.
Paloma now works for a local non-profit, The Gift of Jazz, teaches music privately, and performs under the name La Paloma.
